  I'm hesitant to say what a great spot this is. I just want to go back and stay. Forever. The promo photo is no exaggeration. If you are kept awake by the sound of the ocean, and you don't like being out of town, look at another property. If you like a beautiful place to upwind and be close to great beaches, great hikes, and the ocean lapping at your deck, this is it.

  The beach is just 20 steps from the lanai and it was pretty much deserted during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to be in a quiet and peaceful location about as close to the beach as you'll ever find!

  This rental was everything a beach house should be. Slept great every night due to the comfortable bed and sound of crashing waves. Rental was clean and just big enough for two people. Loved walking out onto the beach everyday. We even found a napping Monk Seal! (During a short walk.)

  We can't wait to return to this special place in paradise! The studio is tastefully decorated, in a gorgeous location, with incredible views of the ocean! The manager is very friendly. The place is quite comfortable and the kitchen has all the amenities. We were very happy here. Note that the location can be very windy, beautiful though.

  Overall, we were very pleased to stay here. The bed was very comfortable and the view was great! Everything was very nice. They had chairs, small bbq, boogie boards and a kayak for our use. But, the ocean was very rough and the weather seemed stormy and windy most of the time, so I wouldn't plan on swimming here (we didn't hang out on the porch or the beach here at all), but Tunnels beach is about a mile away with really excellent snorkeling / swimming. We drove a lot to Hanalei to hang out and around the island. I would recommend this place, but next time, I would probably try to rent closer to Hanalei bay or near Poipu, but that's because I enjoy the sunnier weather and hanging out on the beach or outside more. The wind and crashing waves made me feel a bit nervous, but I loved going to sleep listening to the waves!

  This adorable spot was perfect for us. It is sort of like a mother-in-law dependency off the main house on the property. Photos depict it well. Easy to get to beautiful beaches, town exploration, and though we did not try it a restaurant is in walking distance. Kitchen and bath very nice. Bed comfy. Tip: if you need to use WD allow pretty of time as takes a while to complete both cycles. I've dreamed of this place since returning home. GO!

  The house it’s in is right on the beach. I enjoyed walking on the beach and relaxing in the house while watching the big waves. The Hanalei area is incredibly beautiful. I enjoyed my stay and would return again, but would also consider other rentals.
  Some items to note are:
  1. The unit is part of a house that is occupied by the owners.
  2. It’s on the north coast, so it’s windier and has higher seas than other parts of the island. In the winter, the beach right outside the house is not safe to swim in. I did not hang out on the front porch or lawn because of the wind and salt water spray.
  3. You have to ask the owners to use the pictured kayak or surf board.
  4. There were no fins to fit me (women’s size 6.5, I only saw kids and men’s sizes). You may need to rent gear instead of counting on what’s at the house.
  5. The gas barbecue worked, but was old and ******. It was really dirty and did not heat properly so we only used it the first night. I expected it to be clean since it was included in the property description.
  6. I would recommend bringing a good knife because all the knives are dull. It took me about 15 minute to cut a pineapple instead of five.
  There are a couple of maintenance items. The screen door fell off the first time I tried to open it. The rod to keep the door locked is moldy because it’s always sitting in water. The part of the washer that covered the soap repository was also broken. The directions to the house should be revised. They state it’s the first big house after two one-lane bridges; however, there are several larger houses before it. There’s a plant that blocks the address that is written on the garbage area that should be trimmed. The directions don’t tell you which door to use; it’s the door on the right when you face the ocean.

  We enjoyed our 3 night/4 day vacation in Kauai this january and we are so happy we stayed here. The 1 bedroom studio has a modern flair with a touch of the island decor.A totally renovated and well equipped kitchen. As soon as we entered the house the view was simply breathtaking. It is literally 15 to 20 steps to the ocean..not even a minute away! The beach is secluded and hardly any people around.We enjoyed cooking all our meals in there and it saved us a lot of time and money communting to other restaurants nearby.You don't have to go anywhere for sunrise or sunset.Tunnels beach is minutes away and so also Kee Beach. I wish we had stayed longer to just soak in all the nature around not forget to star gaze in the night lying on the lounge chairs...the sound of the ocean and the view of the star light sky is simply awesome.We will return to the same place sometime in the future for sure.Our 5 year old daughter had a really good time collecting coral and sea shells from the shore.This vacation rental is really what was described on .

  Minor problems: detergent door on washer was broken and dishwasher top rack didn't move right. The house was difficult to find at first, I would revise the directions. Overall, a very positive experience.

  The location was as shown in the photos--right on the beach! Exactly what I was looking for. However it was VERY windy which I have come to learn is typical for this location--this was a bit disappointing as I had hoped to spend more time outside. I did get used to it. The recent remodel is very attractive! Furniture, flooring, ceiling, bath fixtures, cabinets (except sticking drawers), toiletry supplies all lovely. Something that appeared to be blood was on some of the living/bedroom area floor tiles. I cleaned a bit but could not get much off. I did not call about this. I did call David about the condition of the windows and someone came out to clean them right away. Unforturnately they are indeed "etched" by the salt spray. This detracts from the quality of the remodel. So does the paint that is along the edges of the window interiors. The bottom area of the bath louvers was yucky--this too does not match the quality of the remodel. The downstairs studio was quiet except for when the upstairs toilet was flushed. Unfortunately the pipe is right over the bed. The sliding door was a bit wonky. At $200+ a night, I would have liked everything in tip top order. I really did enjoy my stay--the above details did not have a lasting negative influence.

  The Beachfront Retreat is about 4.5 miles further west from Hanalei town. It is a large, recently remodeled studio attached to a family home right on the beach with a northeasterly view across Wainiha and Hanalei bays to Princeville in the distance. The sunrise (in June) was directly out front. The kitchen has a new huge koa countertop/bar and the bathroom has new stone tiling and a jetted tub. The washer-dryer were welcomed amenities. The kitchen is adequate, but the knives could use sharpening and it would have been nice if there were a few basic starter items beyond salt and pepper in the larder. I would recommend the Beachfront Retreat to anyone looking for a true North Shore Kauai experience, and would very happily stay there again.
