  I have stayed in many units at this particular property over the past 25 years and am always pleased. My husband and I stayed in this same unit 6 months ago and knew we wanted to reserve it for our annual Christmas trip. Ahhh Aloha was easy to work with both times. We hit a couple of small snags with our last stay - one being a mix up as to when our final payment was due. The other was the housekeeper did not get the laundered towels and linens back in the unit and it took 3 phnoe calls and 4 days to get dish towels and a second set of bath towels. Other than that, we will absolutely rent from them again!!

  Overall, we loved staying at this condo. The view and the ocean breezes were great. And for the price, this place is a fantastic value. The reservation process was easy and the property manager was very responsive and professional. The location made it easy to get to just about any part of the island. There are several good restaurants within walking distance but we mostly utilized the well stocked kitchen to prepare meals in the condo to save money. If you want a 5-star (expensive with half the view) resort, there are other places to stay. If you want a great view for a great price, stay here.

  Overall this condo was decent. It could use some updating like a new mattress (this one we sank into & the pillows were terrible). The recliners were pretty spotted & the carpet was dirty. The bathroom could use nicer towels (they had bleach stains all over them) and a little upgrading as well. We were glad we didn't spend a whole lot of time in our condo. The grill was nice to access. We cooked a lot there. The cleaning people were nice to let us have a late check-out since our flight home was in the evening. I would definitely NOT recommend booking excursions with the staff at the Pono Kai. We were quoted a different cost for one of our excursions & didn't realize it until there was no way to cancel (24 hour notice required & we booked the night before). I called to talk with a manager & left a message for her, but got no response. We went down to talk with the same woman (Morgan) who booked the excursions & she promised us a manager would contact us. I heard nothing. I stopped in a 3rd time & had them refund the rest of the excursions we booked with them, & booked with a booth near the Safeway. Prices were cheaper there! Terrible customer service I feel.
  
  We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kauai but would stay on the North Shore next time. It's the most beautiful part of the island and seemed to cater a little better to vacationers.

  Have stayed in Kauai 4 times before but never at this property. Chose it for it's location, central to just about everything. Everything was fine except that the air conditioning did not work. We called their on island property manager, and they had a
  portable unit delivered and working the next day. They did what they could. All & all a good stay. Hope they get the air fixed, the portable unit was somewhat noisy.

  We brought our two children, ages 4 and 5 to HI for the first time this summer, and after very long trip from Philadelphia, this was a very inviting place to land. We also found the place with no trouble, even though we arrived at night. The condo unit had a balcony that looked out on the water (perfect view!), and was a short walk to the best part of Kapaa. We also appreciated that all beach necessities, like chairs, umbrella, cooler, thermos, etc., were available. Thanks for a great stay!

  We had a great time while staying at Pono Kai G204. The kitchen was very well stocked with all the cooking implements and dish ware you could possible want. The view of the Pacific was spectacular. The Pono Kai staff were very helpful. And the A/C & paddle fans were a welcome relief. We have three critiques of which the owner is not responsible for: 1) noisy neighbors, 2) noisy roosters, and 3) traffic congestion in Kapaa due to the closure of the bypass from the recent flooding. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

  only thing I would have changed is that the initial supplies were more than a partial roll of toilet paper and 4 tissues in kleenex box. As well as when property manager was contacted for possible later check out he said to contact the front desk (which has no dealings with these rentals) Overall very comfortably furnished would stay again Mahalo

  As you walk in the door, the ocean view captures your attention immediately. Beautiful! The lanai faces directly toward it. Images posted online are accurate representations of the place. We were pleased. It was so handy having a kitchen stocked with all of the amenities you need to cook your own meal -- even a cheese grater! One thing worth noting is that the washer & dryer are NOT in the unit. They are shared with the rest of the complex. The best part of this unit is the view from the lanai. The area most in need of improvement is the smell of the towels. We washed them & they still had a musty smell. Our guess was that prior guests did the same & put them away before they were fully dry because the dryer does not dry them completely even on a light load. We ran them through the dryer cycle twice, but the smell lingers. We still recommend the place, though. It was a great home away from home while we were on vacation.

  I was extremely happy with our rental choice. This condo was very clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed to set up house for the time we were there. It was an ideal location and the views were amazing. We watched the sun rise over the ocean every morning from the balcony. The washer/dryer was a nice feature to have as well as all the bbq's on site. We look forward to visiting again and staying at the same place!

  This was perfect for a vacation on Kauai. Great view, having the bike path right there was an unexpected plus. The place had all comforts of home. I had a great time in Kauai and the condo was perfect for relaxing and looking at the ocean after a day at the beach or sightseeing.

  Took my mom to Kauai for her 80th birthday and stayed at the Pono Kai-LOVED our condo unit! Only downside is the beach-not good for swimming as the current is too strong and not a big enough beach to lay in the sand. The walking trail along the shore is perfect to use and people watch! We loved out stay and can't wait to go back next year.

  I did a ton of research on the different cities on Kauai and then the different places to stay in each city before booking our trip. Kapaa came out the clear winner and after 8 days there my research proved dead on. Pono Kai has the perfect location in Kapaa as well. Unit G204 was clean, well maintained, has great appliances, a comfortable bed, nice TVs and cable(only turned them on to see if they worked!), internet access for a small price, and a good AC unit!
  
  So why Kapaa? Because it has nice beaches, is in the middle of the island and less than an hour drive to anything on the island, and feels like an old Hawaiian town instead of a giant Maui tourist trap like the stuff in Princeville. Seriously, if you want that kind of vacation go to Maui or Oahu, not Kauai!
  
  From Pono Kai there are at least 20 reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. There is a several mile long paved walking trail along the beach literally a stones throw from the condo. There were even reasonably priced grocery stores less than a mile from the condo where we bought milk, bread, cereal, and other necessities.
  
  Having a full sized fridge in the room made a huge difference in both the cost and quality of our vacation. We lived on fruit from the farmers market, ahi poke from the fish markets, and fresh whole grain breads from the bakery located a block from Pono Kai.
  
  Thanks to our central location on the island we hiked in Waimea and also went to Princeville area a few times to hike on the Na Pali coast. There were half a dozen hikes within 5 minutes of Kapaa as well.
  
  Also on property they have a putting green area, shuffle board, croquet, and volleyball court.
  
  So now for the down side which is FAR FAR out weighed by the above goodness but should be mentioned. Roosters do crow early every morning. If there are people upstairs you can hear them but was never a big deal for us even with kids upstairs. Pool wasn't great

  Fabulous place! My husband and I have stayed there 2 years in a row! The only downside is the bed...mattress is not very comfortable..nothing a new mattress wouldn't cure! Highly recommended!
